Ocean Reef Senior High School’s teaching and learning programs are designed to be challenging and innovative, stimulating curiosity, creativity and an ability to be reflective, placing students on a pathway that will enable them to realise their aspirations through opportunity. The school employs experienced and highly trained teachers who guide students towards achieving their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). They tailor learning to the needs of each child, so every student thrives.

Students can study courses based on the career pathway they want to pursue. This includes studying for the Australian Tertiary Academic Rank (ATAR), which leads to university. There are also opportunities for vocational training and workplace learning, which develop skills and qualifications that support entry into the workforce.

Support for students

International students are supported by a dedicated Student Support Officer, who takes care of their personal and academic well-being. Further support is available from the Student Services team. The team includes school leaders, a psychologist, a chaplain, and a student services officer.

Students are welcome to join clubs at the school, including study clubs and academic clubs that help them with their learning. There are also gaming and wellbeing clubs and many more activities available to all students.

Settling in

All new students are paired with another student who helps them find classes, meet new people and navigate the school. The student support officer is also available to assist international students during and after school. Regular emails with updates on what students are doing and how they are enjoying their time at Ocean Reef Senior High School are sent to parents. Teachers will email academic updates and the Program Coordinators will email ongoing student issues and activities.

International students can attend English as an Additional Language courses as part of the mainstream curriculum. Literacy support is available to all students who need it. The school also has special software that encourages language development.
