Lynwood Senior High School welcomes students from all over the world. It is a learning environment which encourages students to follow their dreams and achieve their personal best, whilst developing the solid skills that will help them to become confident, resilient and compassionate adults, prepared to become the leaders of tomorrow. The school has its own Intensive English Centre (IEC) and offers an Approved Specialist program in Environment and Life Sciences (EaLS). Students can also trial for the school’s Specialist Soccer Academy, which is run by internationally recognised coaches, including the 2023 National Female Football Coach of the Year.

With many students looking for support to improve their written and verbal English, the school offers an English as an Additional Dialect/Language course to those who qualify, acknowledging English being their second language. We also offer a career development program in Year 9 and 10 so that students can find their pathway to success beyond school.

Lynwood Senior High School accepts international students in Years 7 to 10. Consideration will be given to Year 11 enrolment but this will depend on the child’s English fluency.

Settling in

New students attend a welcome tour of the school with their family. They are then paired with a mentor who helps them learn about the school and meet friends. Students are monitored throughout the year to make sure their academic and personal needs are met.

Communication is frequently kept with parents through our Connect and SEQTA systems, as well as via school newsletters and Facebook posts. The Connect Learning Management System enables teachers to communicate directly with students, upload work content and resources for students to access, and allows parents to view ongoing student progress. Email is also a very necessary vehicle for disseminating information quickly.

We acknowledge and understand that Elders, parents, families and communities are the first educators of their children and we recognise and value the cultures and strengths that Aboriginal children bring to the classroom. Aboriginal people have a long tradition of teaching and learning through sharing their connections with country, community, language and culture, and through their oral histories, stories and lived experiences that are passed from generation to generation. We recognise and value the learning that Aboriginal children bring with them from their homes and communities into the classroom.
