Melville Senior High School is a vibrant, multicultural school providing students with a world-class education based on high-quality teaching and strong pastoral care. Melville Senior High School delivers a comprehensive educational program, with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The school runs Approved Specialist Programs, including aviation, graphic design media, netball, and an academic extension and music program.

More than 1400 students from different cultures and ethnicities attend the school.

Melville Senior High School has an Intensive English Centre (IEC) on campus, and a team of specialist English as an additional language or dialect (EADL) teachers focused on meeting the individual language needs of students.

Melville Senior High School accepts international students in Years 7 to 12.

Life at Melville Senior High School

The teaching staff at Melville Senior High School are experienced and dedicated. They provide support with tutoring, workshops and homework clubs. Learning is tailored to the individual needs of students, so they can learn and thrive.

To further enrich student experiences, the school offers a range of cocurricular programs that includes over 30 interschool sporting teams, music productions, dance and band festivals, debating, outdoor pursuits, camps and wilderness expeditions, State Emergency Services cadets, academic challenge, orientation and extension camps.

The school is multicultural with students from over 65 nationalities. Diversity is respected and celebrated by building collaborative relationships between staff, students, parents and families. The school’s student services team delivers counselling and supports students with any personal or academic issues they may have. There is also a vocational pathways program, which provides guidance about university and alternative pathways available to students.
