Life at Balcatta Senior High School
The teachers at Balcatta Senior High School have the experience and training to ensure international students receive a world-class education. They are committed to providing opportunities for academic extension and enrichment for high achieving students using problem-based and cooperative learning strategies and have the skills to support students in specialist programs across core curriculum subjects. The school supports students and encourages success by monitoring student progress, working with parents and guardians and providing quality teaching.
The school has a long and rich history of providing special needs students with an inclusive and enriching education experience, embracing diversity and valuing difference. This is reinforced through the Education Support Program, an internationally recognised ASDAN curriculum delivering evidence-based literacy and numeracy intervention, self-regulation and personal care programs and specialist learning area classes.
International students from Years 7 to 12 can enrol at Balcatta Senior High School. Students can choose courses based on different career pathways, including university, further training or employment.
Support for students
Students are supported to achieve their academic best. There is a dedicated Student Services Team, made up of coordinators, a community nurse, a psychologist and a school chaplain. Together, they support students with their educational and personal needs.
After school tutoring is available in mathematics and English, and teachers offer English language guidance through differentiated learning programs. There are also many after school clubs, such as badminton, Book Club and strength and fitness.
Families of international students receive regular contact from the international coordinator on the student’s progress, achievements and wellbeing.
